Pink Shirt Day 2026: How Students and Staff Stand Together Against Bullying

February 25, 2026

Schools across the Abbotsford School District were filled with pink today as students and staff united to stand against bullying and promote kindness, respect, and inclusion.

At McMillan Elementary School, members of the Joy and Kindness Club began the morning with colourful chalk art at the front of the school, reminding everyone walking in that kindness is cool. Their messages set the tone for Pink Shirt Day and reflected the heart behind their club’s work.

The Joy and Kindness Club started three years ago as an initiative to promote student voice and student well-being while bringing joy and kindness to the school community. What began as a small idea quickly grew, with nearly every Grade 5 student wanting to participate.

Across the district, students also marked Pink Shirt Day by wearing pink and sharing messages of support.

At Robert Bateman Secondary School, the Social Justice Club welcomed students with hot chocolate topped with pink sprinkles, creating a warm and inclusive space for conversation and connection before classes began.

At Abby Middle, two Grade 7 students explained why the day matters to them:

“I’m wearing pink today because it stands against bullying. We think that people should be kind and respectful. It’s not okay to bully, and bullying makes people’s self-esteem low.”

Their words echo the broader purpose of Pink Shirt Day. When students stand together and speak openly about respect and belonging, they help create safer, more caring school communities.
