Board Approves Local School Calendar for 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 School Years

At the March 12, 2024, board meeting, the Abbotsford Board of Education passed a motion to approve and formalize the school calendars for the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 school years. The Abbotsford Board of Education is required to create a calendar that meets the legislated requirements of the School Act, and the Abbotsford Teachers Union (ATU) Collective Agreement. These calendars establish the start and end dates of the school year, as well as key holiday breaks and non-instructional days.

Abbotsford School District Launches Public Consultation for 2024-2025 Budget Cycle

As per the School Act, the Abbotsford Board of Education is preparing to approve an updated Strategic Plan and a balanced budget for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year by June 30th. The district is committed to providing a high-quality education while upholding fiscal responsibility and invites employees, families, and community members to share their voices in the consultation process.

Empowering Indigenous Voices: Drum-Making Supports Transition to Middle School

The Abbotsford School District's Indigenous Education Department, under the guidance of the Indigenous Education Council (IEC) and in collaboration with Semá:th First Nation, Mathxwí First Nation, and the Fraser Valley Métis Association, is proud to continue a district-wide initiative to support Grade 5 Indigenous students as they transition to middle school. This initiative aligns with the district’s Strategic Plan, which emphasizes fostering a sense of belonging and connection among students and promoting cultural understanding and respect.

A Winter of Wonder: Schools Revel in Carnaval de Québec

Ten Youth Announced as 2024 Indigenous Role Models

Ten outstanding Grade 12 Indigenous students from the Abbotsford School District have been announced as this year's Indigenous Role Models. Following a rigorous review process conducted in December 2023, the Indigenous Education Advisory Committee considered applications from a pool of over 200 eligible students. The chosen students have distinguished themselves through their deep cultural connections, exemplary leadership, and dedicated service in their schools and broader communities.
